What equipment do I need? What should riders wear?At the start, riders may wear any shoes or boots that have a small heel and smooth sole, and any pants that are comfortable. Corner Stone can provide safe helmets. After 6 weeks of riding: riders should wear English paddock boots or tall field boots. Breeches are best and the most comfortable, and highly recommended. Riders should also purchase their own ASTM/SEI certified riding helmet of their choice. D&B Supply has appropriate helmets. All riders are required to wear riding helmets in their lessons. Long hair should be pulled back in either a pony tail or braid. Shirts with sleeves also required, no tank tops. Corner Stone has a lot of gently used boots and breeches! And available for free to all riders.

I'm an adult rider with no experience - is it too late to start? No! I have several adult students who are at various skill levels. It's never too late to follow your curiosity or passion or horses, overcome a lifelong fear, and learn how to ride, care for and be the best horseman you can be.

Where are you located?Located in the quiet and peaceful east Boise foothills, close to Lucky Peak recreation area.
-
When can I schedule lessons?Lesson days and times vary depending on the time of year. During the school year, lessons are available Tuesdays through Saturdays. In the summer, lessons are available Tuesdays through Fridays.
-
What is the cancellation policy?Lessons are scheduled weekly on an ongoing basis; your time is your time. If a rider purchases a 6 week lesson package, they have 8 weeks to get in 6 lessons; up to 2 lessons can be rescheduled in the event of a conflict but only if at least 48 hours notice is given. Gabrielle will work with you to find a makeup time and Corner Stone has makeup days and times set aside to try to make it easier. In case of a late notice cancellation or a no-show, that lesson is forfeited. In the case of an illness/injury/emergency, however, lessons can still be rescheduled. If Gabrielle needs to cancel a lesson, or if weather prohibits riding, Gabrielle will work with you to either find make-up time if possible within the 8 week time frame, similar to a rider cancellation, or lesson can be credited towards the next package.
-
What is the lesson format? All lessons include a short horsemanship lesson. For beginner riders, the horsemanship portion is focused on catching, grooming, and tacking up their horse. Once a rider is capable and Gabrielle gives the ok, the rider will then need to start to arrive prior to the lesson start time, to tack up their horse on their own, to allow for more time in the saddle. Allow 15-20 minutes before a lesson to be ready on time.
